  • Each walk will have some information specific to the walk – but I also use the following classifications:

Easy: No significant ascent or descent.

Moderate: There’ll most likely be some ascent and descent and maybe uneven terrain such as gravel pathways or stepping stones (which will be in the walk description.)

  • Wonder Walks assumes that you can get to the starting point. We try, as much as is feasible, to offer walks that start from easily accessible locations.

  • “There is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing.” Norwegian proverb

Best to be prepared. The weather is very changeable in the Berkshires. Here is a list of items to consider bringing:

    Clothing:

    - supportive shoes, sneakers or boots (flip-flops or fashion sandals are not recommended). No bare feet, but we may remove footwear at certain points

    - socks (wool/wool blend or synthetic material preferred)

    - dress in layers suitable for the weather, avoid cotton in damp/cold weather

    - consider a hat, sunscreen and sunglasses for sun protection

    - waterproof jacket if the weather is raining or overcast.

    - change of clothes in your car in case you get wet or muddy

    Additional Items to Consider:

    - small backpack
    - journal or sketchpad for capturing your thoughts
    - medications/epi-pen
    - bring your own water and lite snack

At times we will be sitting, and I have foam pads to lend you. If you prefer not to sit on the ground, bring whatever you find comfortable to sit on (like a small blanket or small camp chair). Remember you will have to carry whatever you bring.

  • Pets are prohibited at this time, unless specifically noted on the walk description.

  • Your safety – physically, emotionally and psychologically – is my paramount concern. While we walk at a slow pace, participation in any outdoor activity carries an element of risk. Please be honest about any limitations or concerns and advise me before the walk. These can nearly always be accommodated.

Please bring any medications with you should you have certain allergies or medical conditions.

  • We will have a non-judgmental Council practice at the end of the walk to integrate what we have experienced. It is not required to verbally participate but the circle is open to heart-felt communication and what is said in the circle stays in the circle.

  • Walks are approximately 2 hours in length.

  • We will proceed in light rain or snow, but severe weather will cause cancellation. Notification of cancellation will be given within 4 hours of the start of the walk.
